Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

  • Is Arabic the same the world over?

No. Not even close. While it would be very nice to learn a language that was totally consistent from one country to the next, the truth is that you will experience some major differences traveling from one Arabic-speaking country to another. When it comes to classical Arabic, most Arabs understand it. Lesan Ul Arab focuses on the classical (Fusha) Arabic found in the Quran, Sunnah, and Islamic texts.

  • Are the classes in English or Arabic?

Yes. From our experience, students learn best through a full immersion experience. Classes are conducted in full Arabic simplified according to your level.

  • Do the Arabic teachers speak English?

The Arabic teachers understand a lot of English, however, they try very hard to encourage you to speak Arabic. We call this "online immersion" and it works incredibly well. Your Arabic teacher will do a great job of using pictures and gestures to help you learn. We also know that sometimes you'll learn faster if you use as little English as possible.

About the Lessons

  • Is there a minimum amount of participants required for a course to take place?

Yes, for group courses we require at least two students to start the course.

  • What is the maximum number of students in a group course?

There are no more than three students per group.

In the unlikely event that the minimum number is not met we may delay the course start date by a week, merge your course with another.

  • How do you decide in which group I am in?

This depends on the results of the placement test you take after registration. You will be placed with students at a similar level, in sha Allah.

Studying

  • How much time a week should I put aside for learning?

You should practice at least 30 minutes a day or three and a half hours a week (not including homework time). It is better to learn little and often, rather than trying to learn too much in one go. Be diligent and disciplined and try learning regularly. If you take this advice into account you will be proud of the achieved result at the end of the course, in sha Allah.

  • How much homework is typically involved?

You will get approximately one hour’s worth of formal homework per class/session, but this could vary depending on your teacher.

  • What happens if I find my class is too easy or too difficult for me?

If at the end of your first lesson you find you’re really struggling to keep up or you’re finding the course content too easy then you can speak to your administrator to find the best solution, but don't quit.

  • Which materials do we use in lessons?

Lesan Ul Arab’s curriculum consists of a assortment of materials, each focused on the four key areas of language learning - reading, writing, listening and speaking.

  • What material will I download?

You will receive a download link from your teacher for all required materials, in sha Allah.

Payments

  • Which methods of payment does Lesan Ul Arab offer?

You may pay through credit card, debit card, or PayPal using our payment processor 2checkout.com

  • What happens if I miss a lesson during the course?
